Microsoft held a special contest for Dream Spark registered students called WPAppitUp. The idea was simple: make a prototype that impresses Microsoft using Sketchflow Template for Windows Phone and 50 great designs will win a developer device running Mango.
Contest results are out, partially (afaik), and lucky 20 were announced last month in a blog post. One of the winner, received his Mango device. The promised WP7 mango device is actually HTC Mazaa developer unlocked device running Windows Phone 7 OS Mango build 7720 i.e. RTM. Here's the screen shot of the device's about page ( via XDA )
You know what's weird? Neither is the handset available to the general public nor the operating system running on it. How did they manage to ship out developer unlocked RTM devices so early? I have no idea.
HTC Mazaa leaked a while back on XDA - looking similar to it's cousin HTC Mozart. We don't have any concrete details about the phone specs. but we'll keep you updated.
HTC Mazaa becomes the second phone to be officially running Mango RTM after Fujitsu Toshiba's IS12T .
Update: HTC Mazaa is full glory.
