Apps are the lifeline of any Smartphone platform. The Android and iPhone marketplace has lots of apps that caters to the local crowd. These apps generally include apps that show train timings, local bus routes or movie timings ( Data is fetched from good ol' indianrail.gov.in ). Slowly but steadily we are seeing such apps for the Windows phone marketplace. We get our hands on one such app - Indian Rail Guide.
The app as of now lets you check:
- PNR status of your ticket.
- Live status of a running train
- Schedule of a train
- Query train schedule based on the train number or train name
The Live status of the train functionality, however does not work. But apart from that it is really an useful app if you travel by Indian Railways.
Kudos to the developer for creating such an app and I am expecting some more features [like Trains between places, tickets available] and a better UI in the future.
