More Windows Phone Tango rumors hit the web

We first covered Windows phone tango some time back. WPCentral uncovered build 8220 (still under development, according to my sources, codenamed Tango, which showed content search across the whole system, similar to Universal search available on iOS. Now Mary Jo Foley from ZDNet revealed some interesting new rumor tid bits from her sources. More after the break.
Firstly, Mary Jo Foley was able to confirm that Tango is indeed the next update coming for Windows Phone. It will be a minor update (like NoDo) and major update will be Apollo, which will be released in Fall 2012, adhering to the one major release per year update cycle from Microsoft Windows phone team.

According to her sources,
Tango was “all about Nokia” and focused on hitting the lower-price point for Windows Phones.
For Nokia, hitting lower price point is important since they'll be phasing out Symbian by 2014, so they will  need Windows Phone 7 to work flawlessly on lower price point device. 4 months back, Windows phone 7 devices were nearly 10,000 Rupees more expensive. Yes, they are already at mid range at this point. How long before they hit the < 10k price point? Give it a year, I say. Nokia is already working hard to achieve the low price point target, basic strategy of high volume production coupled with 1 Ghz + chips getting cheaper with time will eventually get Nokia there.
Another source suggests that Tango is being targeted for Asian market and may be available exclusive to Asian consumers only. WHAT?
Another rumor suggests that Nokia Sea Ray might come with Tango. I doubt the "source". Sea Ray is coming with Mango. Tango isn't even complete. Nokia has been extensively testing Mango for quite a while now. There is no way they will wait for OEM Tango push and then start anew. Time is the essence for Nokia. They cannot afford to wait.

Drop in your thoughts and don't forget to check out our Windows Phone Tango wishlist.
