SuperTube is a Youtube app for Windows Phone 7. SuperTube was launched nearly 10 days back in the marketplace to much delight of users. It offered what no other app offered - an option to download unlimited ( premium version ) videos straight to your phone and the ability to stream 720p Youtube videos. But I, like many others, had one important issue - which was the lack of one of the most important feature and most of us raised it in the feedback / review section of the marketplace. The issue was that you could not sign in to your Youtube account to view subscriptions and favorites. But looks like the developers took our feedback seriously and have introduced several new features in their latest update. Read more for a brief review of the app.
Here is the changelog ( ver. 1.1) :
I have been playing with this app for a while and I can tell you the performance is top notch. App is very stable and 720 p streaming was pretty smooth. New update has added full screen mode support which makes watching videos on your WP7 a bliss.
You can browse videos through a section dedicated to categories or see what others like by navigating to the most viewed section.
Now, the most important part. You can finally sign in with your Youtube account and get access to your subscriptions and favorites. Perfect, isn't it ?
Search being one of the most important and most used utility on Youtube, is pretty darn powerful on SuperTube. You can search videos by relevance, uploading date, view count, rating or search only HD videos. In comparison, HTC's native youtube app is terrible. Not only does it lack basic features - the search function is broken too.
I used the term ' nearly perfect ' and I'd stick to that. It is indeed close to perfection but there are few minor things which I would like the developers to consider -

- Ability to like / dislike and favorite a video.
- Subscribe / unsubscribe uploaders
- Ability to view and post comments in videos ( Youtube comments, you can't live without em ;)
- Create playlists
- Live tile with numbers denoting recently uploaded videos from subscription box
- Ability to manage our youtube account ( read and respond to messages, accept friend request, etc )
Trial version contains advertisement, and limits users to download 3 videos successfully. Full version removes all advertisements, and allows users to download all videos without limit. Full version is $1.29.
update : I had to re install the application to get the updated version - marketplace bug ? Hope NoDo fixes it.
